Multimedia technology has changed English teaching greatly in the past few years, and it also combines traditional knowledge and experience with new information and idea. Through the computer science, teachers can actively organize and plan teaching contents, so that students take the initiative to accept the information and improve the students’ learning enthusiasm and teaching course ware with hypertext structure and with breaking the traditional textbooks of linear structure. Teachers can switch freely between images, knowledge, and grammar, and notes in accordance with what they have learned. Therefore teachers and students both can quickly attain satisfying teaching effects. Fundamentally speaking, multimedia teaching methods can change the traditional relationship between teachers and students. Teachers should make full use of the computer and multimedia teaching course ware to explore new teaching mode, and then develop and make use of some more advanced network resources. But they must work hard to learn modern educational technology and further developing and rationally utilize modern information technology as the carrier of English teaching resources, to realize the integration of modern information technology and English teaching.

Ⅱ. Multimedia English Teaching in Junior Middle School

2.1 Cognitive Development of Junior Middle School Students

The Swiss psychologist Piaget put forward that the junior high school stage should belong to the form of computing stage (11 ~ 15 years old). The children have the abstract and logical thinking ability, but to some extent, the abstract thinking still needs to be further developed with the specific image support and perceptual materials. Multimedia not only can provide students with a rich, profound impression, vivid and accurate perceptual knowledge, but is also a very good way to create ideal environment for the development of thinking and help student develop abstract thinking.

Cognitive structure is a psychological structure formed in the mind on the basis of perception and understanding of objective reality, and it is of knowledge and experience of the past accumulation of inpidual. People’s thinking is inseparable from the existing knowledge and experience.

Teachers should cultivate students’ positive emotional attitude and exert their emotional teaching in order to improve the students’ enthusiasm for language study. Interest is the best teacher, so the teacher should make full use of multimedia and network technology combined with some other teaching methods, including discussing questioning and watching the video, choreographed performances skit or reading reports of persity, the organic combination of knowledge teaching and ability training so as to stimulate students’ interest in language. For the middle-school students unique characters, scenes in language works can present the image of the “living” in their mind. Teachers in classroom teaching will use comparison, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction and other various explanation ways to let students increase work experience. At the same time, teachers should pay attention to the establishment of a harmonious relationship between teachers and students, and strive to create a free and equal teaching atmosphere in classroom. A harmonious relationship between teachers and students is often able to encourage students to change their love to some teachers into the teaching of the subject.  

2.2 Characteristics of Multimedia Teaching
